My 40th Birthday Bash...

Tara and my sweet, sweet Hubby have been in cahoots for about 6 weeks now!!! It all started with girlfriends showing up on my doorstep that I haven't seen in forever!!! We all went to dinner and more girlfriends showed up. We then had an amazing "Melinda cake" and they showered me with lots of sweet, wonderful gifts. We then headed off to the resort for tons of fun and then lots of pampering the next day!!! I can't remember when I've felt that special!?! Thanks Tara for all your time, effort, and love that went into planning such an amazing birthday weekend!!! It's one I'll never forget!!!

And since we're all about food - here I am about to dig in to Cafe Adobe's Signature dish... The Avocado Adobe which is a half of an avocado, stuffed with cheese and my meat choice was grilled steak, and then it is lightly battered, fried and topped with ranchero sauce. It is served with pico, rice, and beans! I can't wait to go back and have this again!!!

The next day we ate at Tommy Bahama's and we had The Saba Steak Salad!!! Which is marinated, char-grilled tenderloin medallions, grilled potatoes, roma tomatoes, shiitake chips, garlic aioli & tamarind vinaigrette and it was the BEST salad I've ever had in my life!!! No one makes a better steak than my Hubby but this meat just melted in your mouth!!! OMGoodness!

I wish you all could have been there with us!!! Good food, good times, and great friends - does it get any better?

An Award and Pizza Casserole...

Or what my kids like to call "Bubble Pizza"! This is so good that even the BIG kids in your house will love it!!! Yes, you're the BIG kid I'm talking about!!! ;)

Bubble Pizza

2 cups pizza cheese
16 oz. browned sausage (or pepperoni, hamburger, or bacon)
1 jar of pizza sauce
2 tubes buttermilk biscuits
*Note: I don't put veggies in this b/c my kiddos don't like them, but feel free to add whatever you would order on your own pizza.

Brown and drain the meat. Cut the 2 tubes of biscuits into quarters. Put the biscuits into a bowl along with the jar of pizza sauce. Add the meat and any other toppings you may have. Mix it all together. Pour into a baking dish. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes. After baking for 20 minutes, take it out and add your cheese. Now pop it back in the over for 10 more minutes. Enjoy!

Heidi, from Tried-and-True Cooking with Heidi was so sweet to send me the Kreativ Blogger Award. Thanks Heidi, I sure appreciate it!!! :o)

There are rules to this award, so here they are:
1. Thank the person who nominated you for this award.
2. Copy the logo and place it on your blog.
3. Link to the person who nominated you for this award.
4. Name 7 things about yourself that people might find interesting.
5. Nominate 7 Kreativ Bloggers.
6. Post links to the 7 blogs you nominate.
7. Leave a comment on each of the blogs letting them know they have been nominated.

I don't know if anyone will find any of these things interesting, but here goes:

1. Been married to my best friend for 17 years!!! I know this is wierd... but I really love watching him do yard work! One would think it would be nice of me to help him out - nope, I just watch!!! I do visit with him to keep him company though!!! What a sweet wife he has!!! ;) lol...

2. I love summertime because that means I have all of my kids home with me! I hate it when school starts in the fall!!! I know, you're thinking I'm not normal!!! So, please forgive me for not posting more - I'm taking advantage of these precious few months I have my kiddos all to myself!!!

3. I HATE to shop! I hate going to the grocery store and Wal-mart weekly! And believe it or not, I even hate shopping for myself!!! Which is why I tend to not buy trendy clothes! I need things that will always be in style. I only really go what you would consider "fun shopping" twice a year - once for school clothes and the other is for Christmas gifts. And I try to do online shopping whenever I can get away with it! I know - I'm definitely not normal!!!

4. I hate getting shots but I don't mind getting them in the mouth from the dentist!!! Yes, I'm a wierdo!!!

5. I have a bad habit of eating ice! I know - pretty annoying!!! That just reminds me... it's time to schedule my dental appointment!

6. I'm donating my hair to Locks of Love at the end of summer!

7. I LOVE to eat and try new recipes. I don't eat low-fat anything!!! I eat what I want when I want - as long as I'm hungry for it. If you're interested, here's how I stay thin!

I would like to pass this award along to:
Jamie from Mom's Cooking Club
Penny from Lake Lure Cottage Kitchen
Tina from Mommy's Kitchen

Country Bob's All Purpose Sauce...

Not too long ago I was contacted by Al Malekovic, who represents a small company called Country Bob's Inc. He said he'd like to send me, Tara, and Cindy two bottles of their All Purpose Sauce each, to try and then to do a review on them. Here's some history on the product first...

The sauce is named after it’s creator Country Bob Edson. Country Bob perfected his sauce recipe in 1968. After giving his sauce away to friends and family for years, he started selling it in 1977. The company describes the results as overwhelming. Country Bob’s Sauce was an instant hit! The company says that people who try the sauce become lifelong users. After we tried the sauce - we couldn't agree more!!! It's even wonderful straight out of the bottle!!!

We first used the sauce on Brats that we put on the grill! They were so awesome! I'm just sad we didn't get a photo of that. (We were too busy gobbling them up!)

Now for the next recipe...
Country Bob's Baked Beans

2 cans pork and beans
1/2 cup brown sugar
3 Tbs. Country Bob's All Purpose Sauce (or may substitute Spicy)
3 Tbs. dark syrup
1 small onion

Mix all ingredients in a 2 qt. casserole dish and bake at 375 degrees for 1 1/2 hours. Serves: 4-6

The Baked Beans were a little too sweet for my tastes, but that had nothing to do with the sauce! In fact, once on my plate I needed to pour a little more sauce over my beans to take away from the sweet. I would definitely use this sauce in baked beans again - I might just look for another recipe that has less sugar.

In case you didn't figure it out yet - we highly recommend Country Bob's!!! We are using this sauce again this weekend on some burgers!!! I can't wait!!! This sauce really is wonderful!!! You have to give it a try! Here's their website if you need to find a store location where they sell it, or if you just want to know about their other products they sell! Check out who their CEO is - I love Country Bob's even more!!!

Two More Awards!!!

How exciting!!! Heidi from Tried-and-True Cooking with Heidi and Katie from Katie's Korner both gave me the same Passionate Blogger Award!!! It is such an honor to recieve this from two great gals!

The Rules:
1. Put the logo in your blog
2. Write five things you are passionate about apart from blogging
3. Tag 5 people on your lists and let them know you tagged them.

Five things I'm passionate about...

1. My relationship with Christ, and having that daily quiet time with Him!

2. Time with Hubby - just not enough of it with 4 kiddos!!! Speaking of...

3. My kids - I'm one of those crazy moms that actually LOVES it when her kids are home for the whole summer!!! I hate it when it's time to go back to school! I love my kids and I enjoy being around them! They are great people!!! I'm one of those "fun moms" too! I love to plan outings with them and be crazy and have fun!!! Our time with them is so short and I want to enjoy every moment!!! Even though I'm a fun-loving mom, I am also pretty strict and expect a lot out of my kids. The most important thing for me, is to raise them always seeking the truth, following Christ, and being a light for others!!!

4. Following the rules - I know this sounds crazy, but I am such a rule follower!!!! And I hate it when others aren't!!! ;) LOL!!! If you ask me, this crazy world needs a few more rule-followers!!! I'm even a recipe-follower for goodness sake!!!

5. Trying out new recipes, in search of a new "Keeper"!!!

I would like to award this Passionate Blogger Award to:

Katherine from Smoky Mountain Cafe
Delectable Dining
Carrie from Cooking with Carrie
Jen from Jaime and Jen Dish
Amy from The Sisters Dish

Premio Meme Award...

Katherine, from Smoky Mountain Cafe, awarded me the Premio Meme Award! I'm supposed to share seven things about my personality, then pass the award and meme on to seven other bloggers for them to do the same. What a great way for us bloggers to get to know each other! How neat that someone would want to know seven things about little ol' me!!! Here goes...

1. Christ-centered - My relationship with my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ is the most important thing in my life!!!

2. Family-orientated - I love being with my husband and kids!!! They are my favorite people in the whole wide world!!!

3. Fair - I definitely have the "fair disease" as I call it!!! I always try to be fair with my kids in everything I do. The down side of this is that I want people to be "fair" with me! ;) lol... Sad to say, but most people don't suffer from this same disease!!! ;) lol...

4. Positive - I always look on the bright side of things!

5. Patient - I am very patient - which is such a good trait to have when you are dealing with four kids and their friends every day!!!

6. Punctual - I am always about 10 minutes early to everything! If I'm on time, I feel late! I really think it's inconsiderate to be late!!! I know sometimes you can't help it, but I HATE it when I'm not early!!!

7. Creative - I am definitely a creative person. My grandmother was an artist and I think I got her genes. I used to decorate cakes, I paint murals for my kids, I love to cook and bake. I also LOVE photography. I know my food blog doesn't really showcase this skill, mainly because I don't take the time to get artistic with it. I'm usually in a hurry 'cause we have 6 mouths to feed around here. Believe it or not, we have our own studio here in our house, where I photograph children (mine and others), babies, and pregnant moms! That's where my artistic side really shines through. I'm a portrait photographer - not a food photograher -- big difference!!!! I'm hoping my creative side will one day take me outdoors, because I definitely have a black thumb!!! ;) lol... One day....

This meme is being passed on to...

Tina from Mommy's Kitchen
Heidi from Tried-and-True Cooking with Heidi
Monica from Lick The Bowl Good
Teresa from A Blog About Food
Rachel from Rachel vs. "The Kitchen"
Kim from The Un-Gourmet
Chelsea from Mmm...Cafe

Celebration Time....

It's our 100th post!!! Yay!!
I can't believe how quickly we got here?! What a fun journey this has been!

Sorry for our lack of posting lately. It's the kid's Spring Break and it's also my older boys' birthdays. So, we've been busy and eating out, running around, etc... I won't really have a menu up this next week either since we have so many leftovers from Easter and we'll be going out of town this coming weekend. I promise new things in April - and that's no joke!!! ;) I do need to get creative this week with all that ham - so if anyone has any ideas, PLEASE send them my way!!!

E is for...

Yea! Canarygirl has nominated our little blog here for an Excellence Award. Now, she had a hard time making up her mind, so she nominated everyone from her blogroll. But who cares?! We'll take it! We're just so excited to receive our "first" of anything!!! lol... I'm just truly honored that she considers us a "blogger friend"!!! That means more than anything. If you haven't visited Canarygirl's blog yet - go there right now!! You won't be sorry - she has amazing recipes with awesome photos that you'll drool over!!!

Now who to nominate...

1. Bakerella - I don't know what's wrong with me (maybe something hormonal) but for the past couple of years I have not craved sweets of any kind. And I have been a serious chocoholic my whole life!!! Well, one look at Bakerella's site and my sweet tooth is coming back!!! I love her blog! I just found it about a week ago, but it's already at the top of my favs list!!!

2. All the girls over at What's For Dinner. Nothing better than a bunch of girlfriends sharing their love of food and recipes.

3. Laura, the Organizing Junkie. I get so much inspiration from Laura's site. Now if only she would make house calls!!!

Getting out of the "Dog House"!!

Kathy has been on my case for a while now to do my "about me" page. So without further delay, here it goes:

I am a 36 (almost 37-@@!!!) year old stay-at-home mother of 3. I have been married for almost 15 years. I love to cook and would love to cook something different every night if I could but my family doesn't like change, especially my husband. That's one reason why I have not posted a menu lately because we do the same dinners over and over and over!

Anyway, I have been doing Weight Watchers for about a year now and have lost 33 pounds. For me to reach my goal I need to loose another 15 lbs. I haven't been loosing for the past couple months so I'm ready to take charge! So, now instead of me doing Taste Test Tuesday I will be starting Weight Watchers Wednesday. We've had a few friends ask us to start doing healthier recipes and that's right up my alley. My husband will be out of town next week so this will work out great for me to try a new recipe!!! hahaha -he is so missing out...

For Christmas I got 3 WW (Weight Watchers) cookbooks, so I'll have plenty of recipes to try out! There are a couple that I've already picked that I'll let you in on: 1. Fettuccine with Chicken and Broccoli Rabe 2. Penne with Mushrooms, Italian sausage, and Broccoli. One of those will be cooked next Wednesday. I'll let you know later which one I've picked.

That's about it for me! As you can see I really love food, other wise I wouldn't need WW! So if any one out there has any good WW recipes, please let me know! I need all the help I can get!!

My favorite quote from WW: "Nothing tastes as good as thin feels"

Thanks for reading our blog and God Bless!!!! TARA

We've been adopted!!!

Awhile ago Kristen, over at Dine and Dish, was hosting a blogging event called "Adopt-A-Blogger". It's where "Veteran" food bloggers adopt a "Newbie" food blogger and give them ideas, tips, suggestions to make their blogging experience better. The whole idea is to encourage new bloggers, support others with like minded interests, and hopefully build friendships within the food blogging community. I was so excited, I immediately jumped on board! Three on Food is just about three months old, so we definitely qualify for the newbie category.

Without further ado, I'd like to introduce you to my new blogging buddie, Andreea, from Glorious Food and Wine. She and her husband have a great blog with awesome photos! You'll have to go check it out. I can't wait to get started and learn more about this bloggin' thing!!!

About Us..

Well, Kathy has basically summed up the reason for the blog...so far I haven't been as active as I'd hoped I would be....I am usually very organized with my cooking and menus, but it's been crazy these past couple of weeks. There are the weeks that my hubby travels and on those weeks, it's just basically one/two good meals, then the rest of the time it's what we like to call 'YoYo' nights (your on your own)!
ABOUT US: Kathy, Tara and I lived in the same neighborhood for a couple of years before we actually became friends, they asked me to play Bunko, and I said okay, only to go to Tara's house to find out that we had a common friend, where we stood in the same wedding...HAHAHA!! The rest is HISTORY!! We are buds til the end!!
OKAY, so...I am a stay at home mom to 3 kiddos who are very active...we do year round baseball, football, 2 in soccer, softball, girl scouts, and the list goes on. BUT, I do LOVE to try new recipes, and we have the same rule as Kathy, you HAVE to try at least one bite...it works for us!
I promise to get my hands in the pot a little more this week, and add a menu, etc....until then, enjoy all the meals we have all three cooked many times for our families and are lucky to share them with you all!! Send us your fav recipes too....we love to try new things!!

A little about us...

Hi! I just wanted to introduce us... We are three friends (best buds) that love to cook and try new recipes. I wanted to start this blog mainly for selfish reasons. ;) lol... We three are always loosing recipes and are calling each other and begging the other to email it to us. Well, no more!!! Now, all our favorite recipes will all be in one place. We three girls always call each other and ask what's on the menu for the next week before we go to the grocery store. We've even been asked by other friends what to cook - well, here it is!!! Now we don't have to email them our recipes anymore. Too much work!! ;) lol...

My husband, no1here, also loves to cook. I'm a recipe follower and he's the type that creates recipes!!! We are a great team. He will submit his favorites on occasion but wants to remain behind the scenes. I've told the girls in our image up top, that he's the guy that's half cut off on the left. :)

I'm an at-home-mom to four kids. They are sometimes picky eaters but we have a 1 bite rule that has really helped over the years. They are eating and loving dishes now that I didn't ever think they would.

The recipes we post on here are recipes that we've tried and loved! If you have any favorites - please send them our way and we'll give 'em a try.

Until next time...

Happy cooking,
Kathy <3

P.S. I'll let the other two girls tell you about themselves!
