Garlic Mashed Potatoes
2 1/2 pounds potatoes, washed and peeled
6 cloves garlic, slightly smashed
1/2 cup unsalted butter, cut in pieces
1 (8oz) pkg. cream cheese, cut in pieces
1/4 cup heavy cream
salt and freshly ground pepper
Cut the potatoes in quarters, place them in a stockpot with garlic and enough water to cover. Boil them over high heat uncovered until soft. Drain and mash the potatoes and garlic with a potato masher. While hot, add the butter, cream cheese, heavy cream, and salt and pepper to taste. Whip until smooth.

Oh baby, oh baby...me love some garlic in my mashed potatoes, great idea on throwing them in the water while the tatos cook.
Thanks for the tip!

I love garlic! I will have to try this potato recipe next time. It is different than mine, but sounds so yummy!
Hey Jen and Heidi! Thanks for the comments. You can always cut back on the butter and cream cheese - I use this recipe only for special occasions. If you do cut those two ingredients in half - I'd probably cut the garlic in half too. If you do try it - you'll have to let me know how it turns out!!!
Great idea for a variation on mashed potatoes.. sounds delicious!
Thanks Donna :o)
I have a recipe that is almost identical to this. They are so heavenly they don't even need gravy. Yummmm!!
