Ooey Gooey Goodness...

I can't believe I'm just now getting around to making this!!! I've been meaning to for years!!! It was so good that even my non-dessert-loving-husband loved it!!!

Paula Deen's Gooey Butter Cake

Cake:

1 18 1/4-ounce package yellow cake mix
1 egg
8 tablespoons butter, melted

Filling:
1 8-ounce package cream cheese, softened
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
8 tablespoons butter, melted
1 16-ounce box powdered sugar

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Combine the cake mix, egg, and butter and mix well with an electric mixer. Pat the mixture into the bottom of a lightly greased 13 by 9-inch baking pan. Prepare Filling: In a large bowl, beat the cream cheese until smooth. Add the eggs, vanilla, and butter and beat together. Next, add the powdered sugar and mix well. Spread over cake batter and bake for 40 to 50 minutes. Make sure not to over bake as the center should be a little gooey. I sprinkle a little bit of powdered sugar on top before serving. Yield: 6 to 8 servings, or more if cut into small squares!

Lots of folks swear by these cakes. I've tried them twice. Folks with a sweet tooth love them.

Thanks for your comments ladies! I agree Mary - it is very sweet!!! I could only handle one small piece at a sitting, which is really saying a lot. I lot my sweet tooth a couple of years ago but I'm starting to have sweet cravings again?!?!? Must be hormones?!?!?

Wondering if you would put frosting on this ooey gooey cake?

Sorry, it took me awhile to notice your comment! I would say no, it doesn't need frosting! It is so sweet and so good on it's own that it doesn't need anything else :) Hope you like it!!!
